So I’m in Ikebukuro yesterday, on my way to
\nthe post office to mail off a PSP (thanks, eBay!), but I have to stop by Tokyu
\nHands to get some styrofoam peanuts. They don’t open ’til 10, and got there
\nabout 15 minutes early. No big
\ndeal.<\/font><\/p>\n

Except for the gigantic
\nfriggin’ line.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

Now, I know Tokyu
\nHands sells some nifty stuff, but this is ridiculous. There had to have been at
\nleast 200 people lined up outside the store. That many people can only mean one
\nthing:<\/font><\/p>\n

Limited Edition what,
\nI had no idea. I went off to find a drink and came back shortly after opening
\ntime. Thankfully, the line was just for whatever it was people were after, and
\nnot for store entry. I went in to get my peanuts and saw a special register set
\nup near the front of the store. The long line ended (began?) here, so I got to
\nsee what all the fuss was
\nabout.<\/font><\/p>\n

As somebody who camped
\nout overnight (in December) to get a stash of PSPs, I have no real room to judge
\nthose who line up for whatever they’re into – but I really don’t get this one.
\nThey seemed to be Kitty-chans themed on two pop stars. There was one that looked
\nall sunny and poppy, and one that looked almost goth. Knowing nothing about
\nJ-pop, I couldn’t even begin to guess who these people were, or why they
\nwarranted their own special Kitty phone
\ncharms.<\/font><\/p>\n

I’m not sure of the people
\nlined up where J-pop fans or Kitty fans or some merged subset of the two groups.
\nWhat I do know is that whoever they were, there were quite a few of them. After
\nI’d finished at the post office I passed by Tokyu Hands again on my way back to
\nthe station, and the line was even longer than it had been at
\n10.<\/font><\/p>\n
