What the hell’s been going on with soda while I’ve been away?<\/p>\n


\nI was checking one of my geek news gaming sites the other day and a banner ad caught my eye. Usually I ignore any ad I see online, but this one was different. It was for Blue Mountain Dew<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WTF?!?<\/b><\/p>\n

Mountain Dew isn’t supposed to be BLUE.<\/b><\/p>\n

Of course, it wasn’t supposed to be<\/p>\n

RED<\/b><\/p>\n

either, but that didn’t stop them from making Code Red, or stop me for liking it. (They also made that ORANGE<\/b> LiveWire<\/a> flavor, but I didn’t care for that one too much.) I went to the Mt. Dew website to see if I could figure out just what this new, blue concoction was. What I found there kind of worried me a little.<\/p>\n

First of all, it turns out this blue stuff is only available at Taco Bell. Secondly, it’s lime flavored. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t limes green? Of course, Mt. Dew is already green (kind of), so they’d have to find a way to make the “special” lime flavor different from the regular kind. But what color to use.<\/p>\n

I imagine they had a lot of blue dye left over from that Pepsi Blue shit.If you’ve never tried Pepsi Blue – don’t!<\/b> It’s crap. Seriously, it’s pretty awful. Maybe they thought it was going to take off, so they got a bulk discount on some blue dye and bought waayyyyyy too much. I can understand them not wanting to just toss it out, but please, let’s not screw around with Mt. Dew, okay?<\/p>\n

Clearly, they’re not going to take my advice, not when they’re making a special Halloween<\/a> flavor – Mt. Dew Pitch Black<\/b>. This one’s got some “black grape” flavor.<\/p>\n

Pepsi guys, come on. Enough is enough. There’s a reason Code Red is the only one you’ve permanently added to the product line. (Hell, you’ve even made a diet version, it got so popular.)<\/p>\n

It’s actually good!<\/b><\/p>\n

Can we put the other fucked-up frankenflavors back in the lab? They’re not ready for the light of day, and shouldn’t be out in public until they’re not going to assault people’s tastebuds in the same vile manner tha Pepsi Blue did. And if you’re taking suggestions, can you get whoever is in charge of international distribution to get off their ass and bring Pepsi Vanilla to Japan?<\/p>\n
