It usually knows more than you do.<\/font><\/div>\n

Even if you’re a big geek on the outside (like
\nme), you’ve got an “inner geek” that’s more in tune with stuff than you are. If
\nyou’re checking out some new bit of tech, a funky game or accessory, the
\n<\/font>IG<\/b><\/font> is
\nthe voice in your head telling you whether or not to buy
\nit.<\/font><\/p>\n

Heed its
\nwisdom.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

I foolishly ignored mine at
\nDesign Festa. When I was cruising around all the booths I came across this
\ndisplay:<\/font><\/p>\n

Now,
\nit may not look like much (to the non-geek eye), but it’s some cool stuff. The
\nlittle statues are from Namco games, and come in the boxes behind them. The flat
\nthings to the left are mini-CD videogame soundtracks of old NES titles. There’s
\nonly one box for each of these collections, so what you end up with is a total
\ncrap shoot. <\/font><\/p>\n

What these two guys had
\ndone had bought a bunch of both sets and opened them to see what was inside.
\nThen they took it all to Design Festa and were selling them just slightly higher
\nthan what they’d paid. They make a profit and gamer-geeks can get just the
\nstatue or CD they want. Good deal all around,
\nright?<\/font><\/p>\n

Only if you’re smart
\nenough to buy the ones you want.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

I
\nscrewed up and didn’t buy anything. I barely gave things a cursory glance. It
\nwas only later, while going over the photos from the day, that I realized what
\nI’d missed out on.<\/font><\/p>\n

My IG knew
\nthe deal though.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

That voice in my
\nhead was saying, “get the Xevious statue. And why not grab a couple of those CDs
\nwhile you’re at it?” I stupidly thought, “nah, that’s not for me.”
\n<\/font>DOH!<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

I
\nshall not ignore my
\n<\/font>IG<\/b><\/font>
\nanymore. Though I’m beginning to think perhaps I should take his advice with a
\ngrain of salt.<\/font><\/p>\n

He’s had me
