Well, guys, it’s true – but the evening wasn’t
\nsupposed to be about relaxing anyways.
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

Saturday night (24 January) was the
\nbig event. The Fucked Gaijin \/ Lost in Translation premiere party. The big names
\nwere there Taro (our host), <\/font>Rob
\nPongi<\/a><\/b><\/font> (with dysfunctional camera –
\noh, the shame!), Dr. Pongi (his traveling psychiatrist), and a few other FGs.
\nMrs. Taro was there as well, and was an exceptional host, putting up with all
\nthe FG silliness.<\/font><\/p>\n

Taro had whipped up a
\nhuge pot of spicy chili, Mrs. Taro was making sure everybody ate some
\nvegetables, and the rest of us made general nuisances of ourselves – drinking
\nmargaritas (but that was helpful, since we went through a large quantity of the
\nstrawberries that the Taro family could not have consumed on their own), scaring
\nthe cat and just generally being in the
\nway.<\/font><\/p>\n

A good time was had by all. There
\nwere a few technical snafus – Rob’s camera died (or was D.O.A.), his lens
\nwouldn’t fit my camera, and
\n<\/font>somebody<\/b><\/font>
\nalmost killed an iBook. (No, it wasn’t me, nor was it my iBook that had a
\nnear-fatal accident.)<\/font><\/p>\n

Most importantly,
\nthe technical problems were overcome, and a good portion of the evening ended up
\n“caught on tape.” For your viewing pleasure (or displeasure – your milage may

You’ll

The video silliness delayed the
\nstart of the movie, and we almost ended up with another “can people still make
\nthe last train” situation. (I get the feeling those are pretty common in Tokyo.)
\nEverybody made it out on time, and the margaritas, plum wine (or was it brandy?
\nI’m not sure. Either way, Mrs. Taro made it and it was awesome.) and obligatory
\nSuntory whiskey seemed to have had few lingering effects on the
\ngroup.<\/font><\/p>\n

Once everybody was out the door
\nand off to the train there was the post-party cleanup to attend to, but since
\neverybody was well-behaved it wasn’t that big of a deal. Once that was finished
\nit was time to crash.<\/font><\/p>\n

And that’s how my
\nlast full day in Japan ended. A most excellent way to cap off the
