Crushes are typically equated with unrequited love, and when that’s the case they can be pretty devastating. But that’s not the only time crushes happen!
I’ve been with my wife for over 16 years, and we’ve been married for more than 11 of those. Our early days were very lust-filled, as one might imagine, and we’ve certainly had our ups and downs since then, but we’ve gotten through all of it and are still together. But it’s only been in the last few weeks that I’ve been able to really understand just how I feel about her.
It’s not just love, though I absolutely love her. It’s not just adoration, but she truly is the most adorable person I’ve ever met.
I have a crush on her, and it’s the biggest crush I’ve ever had on anybody in my 50+ years on earth. I honestly can’t believe that I get to see her every day, and share so many moments with her – both monumental and inconsequential.
Our work schedules don’t always match up, and sometimes we only see each other for a few minutes each day, but those are the best minutes of those days. And the days when we’re off together? They’re all fantastic! Even if we’re only hanging out at home, doing our own things in our own rooms, simply knowing I can walk down the hall and see her fills my heart with joy.
I honestly cannot believe I got this lucky. That somebody so wonderful would pick me to spend their life with seems an impossible dream. But it’s not impossible, and it’s not a dream. I get to live it every single day
