Obviously, that’s not the pizza itself. But that’s one way to get a free pizza. Save up enough of the special coupons from pizza boxes and you’ve earned a free pizza. In the case of New York Pizza, the hole in a wall pizza shop in my neighborhood, 8 coupons is enough to earn a free medium pizza. The new delivery place, Pizza Cat , requires 10 pizzas to get a free one. I don’t mind the two extra pizzas though, since their pizza is better and they have a cool logo:
Deals like this aren’t limited to pizza, either. It seems like nearly every business has some sort of frequent customer rewards plan: coffee shops, bakeries, barber shops – even bootleg videogame dealers! Here’s a sampling of the cards in my wallet:
The blue one is for Blue Club, where I get my hair cut. The next two are for the coffee shops in my neighborhood. The “Trader” card is where I buy my illegally copied Playstation 2 games. The last one is for Tous Les Jours , one of the many French-themed bakery chains in Korea. Most of these work on a 10:1, paid:free ratio. 10 coffees or haircuts gets you one gratis. Going by the check boxes on the back of the Trader card, I think that one operates in the same manner. Tous Les Jours is the only one I’ve got that works on a different scheme. Their card has a magnetic strip on the back, and the card gets swiped with every purchase I make. One point is earned for every 1,000 Won (about 84 cents) spent. Once enough points are racked up they can be cashed in for free stuff. 50 points is enough for a loaf of bread and a jar of jam. 100 points earns a free roll cake. The higher the points, the better the reward. I used to get something at Tous Les Jours almost every day when I was living in Bundang. Thankfully, there’s not one tooo close to my new apartment. Their bread, rolls and sandwiches are very, very good. I’d likely have 1,000 points by now and be the size of a small hippo.
Then again, imagine all the free stuff I’d be getting! ^.^
