Lazy dragons aren’t much fun.

Neither are cold guys in dragon costumes.

After a hard day’s geeking at the museum, and a bit of aimless strolling around Tokyo, it was time to head back out to Yokohama. I was meeting up with my friend for a trip to Chinatown. Dragons! Dancing!

Dancing Dragons!

Well, that was the plan at any rate.

Okay, to be fair, it was pretty damned chilly in Yokohama last Thursday. And windy. Really fucking windy.

I’m told the Chinese New Year festivities usually entail a “dragon dance” that goes from gate to gate to gate, and eventually to the main temple in Yokohama. Due to the weather, they settled for doing small dragon dances at some of the gates. They may have actually done it at each gate, but we kind of bailed after checking out one performance. We tried following the crowd and the partial dragons to see where they were going, but they pretty much bailed themselves. We wandered for a bit, discussed dinner plans, then hit this Chinese place where I had what was easily the best meal I’ve eaten in about 2 years. It was just that damned good. If I knew the name of the place, I’d recommend it, but I don’t, so I can’t. Sorry.

On the way to the restaurant we passed a display of wanted posters, which I felt the need to film. There was also a really cool traffic safety poster that I’d love to have on my wall.

(Come on – bosozokus and rice-boys cracking each others’ rides up. How can you not like that?)

I’ll look into picking one up next time I go back. You can check that clip out over on the “Movies” page.

After dinner we figured it was time to pack it in for the day. I needed the sleep anyways, having gotten only 4 hours the night before.

Thus endeth day two (22 January) of my Tokyo trip. Stay tuned for updates detailing days 3-5!
