I need to make some changes

(and I’m not just talking about my weight)

I think I’ve been doing pretty good with the site lately. Heck, this entry marks 14 straight days of posts. A new record! (And a pretty good one, considering that my longest previous streak ran a whole 3 days.) But how long can I keep it going? The Japan trip gave me lots of posting fodder, but that well’s pretty much tapped out. There’ll be a few other posts concerning the trip, probably when I get more videos edited and get around to tossing a gallery page up. That should make it easier to check out the photos without digging through the archives to find the appropriate posts.

So how can I sustain the momentum I’ve got going?

For starters, I think I need more than four categories. “Japan” and “Korea” make for good ones, so they can stay as they are. The “About Me” section probably needs a bit tighter focus. It should either be more personal, or be changed to something else. I expect I’ll go with the first option there. “Random Ramblings” is okay, but from the name, I think the content should be a bit more rant-like. I enjoy a good rant (writing my own and reading/hearing others’), so a rant section would be a good fit.

But what else? Well, what about when there’s something I want to comment on, but the subject matter doesn’t warrant a full-on rant. Clearly, there’s a need for a section like that. “Mindless Musings” might make for a decent title for that section.

I think I need a “geek” section too. Such a section would’ve been the perfect place to swoon about my iPod. And it’d give me a place to talk about cool tech stuff I want, but can’t afford – or even have a valid need for. (The Canon Digital Rebel comes to mind here. 6-megapixel digital SLR. And it’s only $1,000!)

Adding those two sections and refining the existing four is certainly a good place to start. But what else? Sure, I need to make that “nifty title graphic” like the top of the page says. I also want to make a “favicon.ico” image so there’ll be a spiffy little graphic in the address bar when you come to the page. So for anybody who regularly reads this site (which is probably like five people), expect to see some stuff changing. Once I refine the blog sections, I’ll probably move some entries around to put them in a place where they’re a better fit. The original posting date won’t change (at least, it shouldn’t) so they’ll still be in the same place chronologically.

Beyond that, who knows? I’m certainly open to suggestions. (The commenting stuff was added due to suggestions, for one.) So email me any ideas you think that might work here, or just leave them as a comment with this topic. Let the evolution begin!
