Damn! They’re everywhere!

A matter of slight relevance to yesterday’s entry.

Shortly after posting yesterday’s entry, I took a ride up to Seoul. I was headed to the electronics market (what a shock!) to price digital cameras. Not that I’m unhappy with the Ghettocam, but I would like something a bit less problematic.

There are times when it can take a good 30 seconds to get it to fire up. It’s not really fond of the CF card I’ve got in it, and will occasionally tell me to reformat it when turning the camera on. Of course, that’s useless. (No, really, it is. If I do that I’ll get told the same thing the next time I turn it on.) It just means I have to turn the camera off, pop the card out and re-insert it, then turn the camera back on. That may need to be done a couple times. Fighting with that sequence wastes a lot of time and has resulted in more that a couple missed shots. Now, I’m not saying the Ghettocam’s not useful. I wouldn’t use a newer one to take pics in the snow or rain, but I’m not too worried about the GC. If it dies, no great loss. I only paid $35 for it. So I’ve been checking out a batch of different cameras, and have settled on a Casio for my next one. I was all set to pick up a Z4 yesterday, but the prices were higher than I’d expected. Good thing too, since an updated model, the Z40 is due out this month. Casio’s also updating the Z3 (to a Z30), and that’s due out soon as well. (You can check out the specs on the Z30/Z40 here.)

The Z3/Z30 are 3.2 megapixel cameras and the Z4/Z40 come in at 4 megapixels. Aside from the resolution, there’s not much difference between the two. Most of the pics I take end up here on the site or in emails, so I doubt I’d see much extra benefit to the extra money I’d have to spend on the Z4/Z40. I’ll have to wait and see what the prices here will be on the new ones. They should be in stores by the end of the month.

But that’s not what I wanted to talk about today.

No, there was something odd happening yesterday. Something a bit too strange to be a mere coincidence. Not but a couple hours after posting about those crazy tree kangaroo’s, I’m in Seoul – and what do I see?

This:

O.o

What the hell?!? Are they stalking me?This guy (I’m honestly not sure of it’s gender, but I’m using “guy” generically) was passing out info for Samsung. Seems they’re using a ‘roo to pitch they’re “Sens” line of laptop computers. There was no laptop in this character’s pouch though, just a bunch of flyers pushing the laptops. Okay, I know that this is the definition of “coincidence,” but still…

What the hell?!?
