Am I drinking too much coffee?

A look at my building’s recycling bin may say, “yes.”

Korea’s one of those silly countries with mandatory recycling. I guess it’s understandable, since there’s not a lot here in the way of resources. I’ve more or less gotten used to it. I just put all my recyclable stuff in one big bag, then when it’s full, I take it down and dump it, sorting out the plastic from the metal down there instead of having two separate bags. Now, the bag I use isn’t too terribly big (maybe about the size of a standard American paper grocery sack), so I empty it fairly regularly. There always seems to be a shitload of coffee cans in it though. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean:

All of that is my stuff. (The Hi-Chu cans too.) I didn’t count how many cans, but it’s a lot.

I drink that kind of coffee instead of having a coffee maker because:

1. It’s easier – open the fridge and grab a can. No brewing needed.

2. No cleanup. Just toss the cans in the recycling bag.

3. It’s cheap. Only $1 for a six pack.

4. It’s pretty tasty stuff.I have two of them every morning with breakfast, and sometimes have one in the evening after work. (I find that getting a little caffeine buzz, then coming down from it makes it easy to sleep very soundly.) And the cans are pretty small – just 175ml.

So am I drinking too much coffee, or not taking out my recycling often enough?
