The metalhead monk?

Nah, he looks too peaceful.

Just like yesterday, today’s entry is another photo discovery. Actually, it’s not much of a discovery. I’ve been walking past it almost every day for months now, but haven’t gotten around to blogging it. So here it is:

I’ve no idea what the symbolism in this picture is. The gesture, the flower, those kickin’ shoes – none of it means anything to me. It’s on the side of a building, part of which must house some little urban retreat as far as I can tell. (I’m not sure what they’d call it, so I’m really just guessing here.) He’s just part of a larger scene on the wall:

Oh, and don’t let the door scare you. They’re not Nazi Monks. The “Asian swastika” is used to identify temples, and was in use long before Hitler came along. Also, the points on it go counterclockwise, not clockwise.

Clearly, the flower (fruit, or whatever it is) holds some significance, as it’s standing alone as well as being held by the monk. I suppose I could try and ask around, see what their deal is or what goes on in there, but this is another one of those things that’s better left a mystery.

Some stuff’s just more fun to wonder about than it is to figure out.
