Design Festa: Part 1

What was the deal with that Bondage Bunny, you ask?

I’m glad you asked!

The Bondage Bunny was the signpost/mascot for one of the exhibitors at Design Festa. Several other people had made little things that stuck out high above their booths to try and attract attention, but none of them succeeded nearly as well as the Bunny. I mean, how could you see that hovering over the booths and not want to go check it out?The man/company behind the Bunny is Kitanya. I don’t know if that’s one person’s name or if it’s the company. Based on what I saw at Design Festa, I’m guessing it was just one dude (or chick). The site’s all in Japanese, but here’s an easy link to the catalog. Click on over and you’ll see a bit of a theme.

The Bunny’s not the only mascot, apparently. He was accompanied by a cat, who seems to be more into the whole scene than he is:

It may not show in that model, but this cellphone charm carries a different message:

(I’ll leave just what that message is to your imagination.)Kitanya’s main product was cellphone charms. Here’s the first one that caught my eye:

I can’t be 100% certain (due to not having the macro on when I shot this pic), but I’d swear that’s meant to be Kim Jong Il, the lovable party-guy leader of North Korea. (I wonder if he got paid for likeness rights for this….?)

Most of the charms were slightly more sexual, like this one:

I dig the “Love and Courage” motto at the top. I’ve no idea what the kanji on this one says. Anybody care to lend a translating hand? The hearts are amusing. I wouldn’t think that a 5cm tall woman would feel so modest as to need them, but then again, I’m not a 5cm tall woman, so what do I know about their needs?

And in case that one wasn’t ladylike enough for you, I offer up this demure specimen:

Ah, now there’s a girl you’d be proud to take home to meet mom! (Depends on your mom, I suppose…) I didn’t check the backside of the cards these were on, but I should’ve. I wonder if they’ve got instructions on how to tie each pose printed on the back? Could make for a handy “collector’s series” or some such thing.

Gotta catch ’em all!

And then tie them up so they can’t get away!
