Now with 30% more koala!
I knew Japanese people had unusual (to a Western palate) tastes in food, but the sight of Koala Shakes and Koala Puffs at a Lotteria in Tokyo caught me by surprise. Everybody (who’s not Australian, and therefore knows the truth about the little buggers) thinks koalas are cute and fuzzy, but who would’ve guessed they were sweet and delicious too?
Certainly not me!
I didn’t try the shake or the puffs, as I was still working my way towards the bottom of a caramel mocha latte, but they did look intriguing. Perhaps if they’re still available next time I’m in Tokyo I’ll check them out.
Alternatively, can anybody in Tokyo try these things and let me know how they are? I’m curious to find out if koalas are as tasty as they are cute.
