You always hurt the ones you love.

But I’m hoping I don’t go and do exactly that.

My iBook’s sick, and I’m pretty sure it’s my fault. I work the little bugger to death. Downloads are constantly running, I’ve got the dual-screen hack so it can drive a second display, I take it to work every day so I’ve got something to do when I’m not busy, I’m always offloading stuff I’ve downloaded (just to replace it with something new right away) to one of my firewire drives, I burn plenty of CDs and VCDs, the WiFi is always on, I transferred over 12 gigs of video files to my Xbox from it last night….

Get the picture?

Lately it’s been acting fussy. I get the “spinning beachball of death” by doing just about anything, response times are slow, and today it told me it was going to need and hour to copy a 650 meg file to an external drive.

That’s just not right.

In an attempt to restore it to its former glory (of just 5 months ago!) I’m going to do a full backup-format-install cycle tonight. If all goes well it’ll be zipping along happily later on this evening. If it doesn’t, you’ll know I screwed up big time. Of course, the first external sign of that will be the lack of an update tomorrow. So stay tuned! Hopefully I’ll be back shortly.

(If I’m not, I’ve no idea how I’m going to update this page. Hmmm….maybe I should work that out beforehand. Nah, what could go wrong…. ^.^)
