Hey, look what I can do!

Well, I’ll be damned if that book wasn’t telling the truth! Not even three hours of working with the book (over the course of three days) and sure enough, I can read Hiragana. I thought the three-hour claim might be a little sketchy, but I have to say – it’s the real deal.

Typing in it’s even easier than writing it out by hand, thanks to the magic of OSX. Unfortunately, that doesn’t bode too well for any Japanese handwriting ability. After what computer usage has done to my English handwriting, I’ll have to work to keep from screwing up my Japanese writing from the get go.

Of course, I still only know about 20 words in the language, so I’ve got a lot more learning to do. In fact, I think I’ll go do some more right now!
