BUNNIES!!!

(Offered as a public service in response to the recent bug posts for those who may not appreciate cool-looking insects.)

When I went to visit my friends last weekend, I was surprised to see they’d acquired pets. Most people who come to Korea and want a pet may get a fish or a little turtle. but since the average stay here is only one year, bigger pets are usually not an option. There’s the hassle of customs and quarantine if you want to take a cat or a dog home, or the challenge of finding a new home for it with somebody who’s staying in Korea.

I think this is the first instance I’ve seen of somebody getting rabbits. Generally not a standard pet choice, but they’re certainly cuter than turtles.

See?!?

How can you not love a couple of critters like that? That’s Richelieu on the left and Napoleon is on the right. (Sorry about Napoleon being a bit blurry, but he’s rather hyper.) They’re very friendly, and quite enjoy being petted through the bars. They’re not all that keen on being held though, but I’m sure as they spend more time around people (in a non-pet store environment), they’ll loosen up some.

Oh, and they were randomly purchased, so the gender mix of the couple is unknown. There may be more bunnies in the future, or this may just be a nice civil union.

^.^

As cute as they are, I don’t think I’d want bunnies of my own. But I really want a ferret!
