Just when you think you’ve seen it all.

That’s when you realize you’ll never see it all.

I really love the buildings in Tokyo. Sure, there are a lot of concrete boxes, but there are plenty of odd ones too. Some look like the place an evil genius would hatch diabolical plans from:

And others look like the sort of place the Justice League would meet in to try and overthrow those plans:

I try to see as many of the weird ones as I can, so each time I ride into town I take a different route, curious to see what I might discover. It’s a great method for learning my way around the city while seeing new stuff.

Sometimes I even find things that defy categorization:

When I first spotted this I thought it was some sort of corporate art gone horribly wrong. I mean, who goes and bolts stuff like this to the exterior of a building? It almost looks kind of like…

Then the sound I heard gave away what it was:

Yes, that’s right. somebody hooked a roller coaster onto the outside of a building.

And not a little one either:

(My apologies for the stitching job, but it’s tough to get a decent pic of a coaster when you can only shoot it from across the street.)This thing is part of the amusement park at Tokyo Dome City. I’d been by the dome during my visit back in March, but not on the same side as this stuff. I don’t really have anything more to write about it, mostly because seeing it was just one of those “wow” moments where you’re not quite sure that what you’re looking at is what it seems to be. But then you realize it is, so you start taking pictures.

And then you share those with your friends.
