Kaijuu Sensei!

Hands down, the coolest nickname I’ve ever been given.

One thing about most schools in Japan is that students (and faculty) have to have two pairs of shoes. One you wear outside, on your way to and from school, or during outside activities and the other you only wear inside, to keep the floors cleaner. Even though mine is a privately run preschool, we have this policy as well. The whole time from when I started there until our winter break began, I never had any “inside shoes.” I just walked around in my socks all day and it was no big deal. But with colder weather came colder floors, and something needed to be done as socks were no longer an option.

Luckily for me, I found the perfect pair the day before school resumed:

Do those rule or what?!?

Yeah, I know ‘zilla slippers are nothing new, but how many people get to wear them at work? ^.^ I wasn’t sure if my boss would go for them or not, but she thought they were pretty cool. some of the younger kids were kind of freaked at first, but they all like them now. I tease them and “claw” at them when they’re not expecting it.

Massive giggles usually ensue.

I like them so much I went back to the store I got them from and bought the only other pair they had. They’re being held in reserve for when the first pair wears out and needs to be replaced.

I’ll be Kaijuu Sensei forever! ^.^
