If only it were so.

A Tokyo building fantasy.

As I’ve said before, I really dig some of the buildings here in Tokyo. The architecture can be damned strange at time, and even when it’s not so strange, it can give you really weird ideas.

Take this place for instance:

It’s not that remarkable of a building, being your basic black glass tower, but it’s idea that it put into my head that I love so much. That wedge-shaped room tucked into the corner is a neat idea for a function room. Nice and big, great view through those tall windows – perfect for a wedding reception or corporate party.

What got to me about it is the way it looks. The edges of it match up with the line where two of the sections meet. (I’m not sure I’m explaining that right, but it’s obvious when you look at the picture.) It almost looks like those black lines are tracks, and that the room is one massive elevator.

How cool would that be?

Revolving restaurants have been done before, but what about elevating ones? No need to worry about it being tucked in the shadow of another building, just raise for more dramatic sunset views. Enjoy a broader view of the city, or maybe just a changing one.

I don’t know if anybody’s ever build anything like that anywhere in the world, but they really should.
