Just recently a Pizza Hut delivery place opened near my neighborhood. I hadn’t tried them out, but being laid up with back issues made me less eager to go grocery shopping as often as I usually do.Ordering pizza here really isn’t that big of a hassle, provided you can give your address and phone number in Japanese. The menus are all in katakana, so if you can read that, it’s doubly easy, since most of the pizza names are just odd English ones rewritten in Japanese.
To make matters even simpler, you can order online.
It probably took me longer to do that than it would’ve to order over the phone, since I had to keep plugging text into an autotranslator to make sure I was putting the right info in the right fields. But I managed well enough and soon a cheese crust, Hawaiian-style pizza was on its way to me. I’d been tempted to order some fries or chicken nuggets, but I was dining alone and figured the pizza (a medium) would more than suffice.
Imagine my surprise when my pizza arrives (delivered by a very cute chick!) and there’s an order of fries on top of the pizza box. I knew I hadn’t clicked on “fries” so I guess they were giving away a free order to new customers or something.
Score!
In typical Japanese take out fashion, the box had some good Engrish on it.

I love the “Try with Pizza!” bit. I’m ordering from Pizza Hut, so I’d say the odds are pretty good I’ll be trying with pizza. They were pretty tasty fries, so I’ll likely want to buy them again. They also have a fries ‘n’ nuggets combo deli, so that may be the way to go next time.
I’m sure I’ll “smile and be happy!” ^.^
