Ebay Assholes

Some people’s kids just can’t play nice.

So my two PSP 1.0 auctions wound down this week. One ended rather unspectacularly, going for the opening price of $275. Not bad, since I paid $200 for it, but I had been hoping for a bidding war. (They’re always fun to watch.)I was really pleased that the other system went for the “buy it now” price of $425. Nothing like more than doubling your money to put a smile on your face.

Well, except actually getting paid.

Yup, the guy who went for that one was a flake. He ended the auction with BiN then never responded to any emails. What an ass. Sure I can re-list it and get it sold, but the promise of the $425 was very nice. I was just really annoyed with this prick.

So I did some digging.

Seems mine wasn’t the only PSP he’d “won” on ebay. I found another one he’d “bought” and a third that he was the current high bidder on. I emailed the seller of the second one and that guy confirmed that he’d yet to hear from this asshole. After learning that, I emailed the guy selling the third one and told him what was going on. He promptly cancelled the bids from the spoiler and went on to get his system sold to somebody who’d actually pay.

As near as I can figure, this guy was doing one of two things.

1. He had a PSP of his own (or more than one) to sell and was trying to screw up other people’s auctions so he could get his own stuff sold.

2. He really was interested in buying a PSP, but was going to bid on as many as he could and then buy only the lowest-priced one. (I think this is the more likely scenario.)

If you’re ever selling stuff on eBay and get a bid from “leelootje” do yourself a favor and cancel it. He’s got zero feedback, which means he’s never bought or sold anything,

And he probably never will.

I googled that nickname and the only hits I got were from a Counting Crows message board and a couple of Netherlands chat forums. If the nick is the same person (and with so few hits returned, I expect it is) he’s some 19 year-old twerp.

Hmm. Come to think of it, the little shit probably can’t afford a PSP anyways.
