The third-most expensive thing I’ve ever bought.
Anybody who reads this page knows I’m better at spending money than saving it. Sure, I did okay in saving up to move to Japan, but I pretty much had to do that. (Can’t very well move to an expensive country without some money in the bank.) Most of the time it’s little stuff – stacks of games, computer gear, book-shopping binges – that adds up to a fair amount, but not a lot of large purchases.
Well, that’s how it used to be before I moved here.
Since arriving, I’ve kept at the small stuff, but have managed to get into buying bigger (and better) things. When I bought my projector it was the single-most expensive thing I’d ever bought. A few months later I topped that with the PowerBook. Last week brought #3 on the list. And I also have the least to show for that purchase.
For now.
So what is this fabulously expensive item?
A plane ticket.
I get just under two weeks off in August and I’m going to leave Japan to take my first vacation since May of 2004.
Where am I going?
That’s a secret for now, but I will say that it’s someplace I’ve never been, but have always wanted to go. I’ve also got a friend there that I haven’t seen in quite a while. It should be one hell of a trip, and I expect I’ll be taking a ton of photos and have interesting tales to share.
Stay tuned for more details!
