Changes in the wind?

Maybe. Maybe not.

As I mentioned in the post about the sporadic posting of updates, I use iBlog to handle my posts here. It’s served me well enough, but I’m starting to wonder if I’ve maybe outgrown it.

I have to use Haloscan to manage my comments, which is functional, but not ideal. I’d like to put the whole site on one page (with links to the other bits) without using frames, and that’s not possible with iBlog without massive tweaking. That’s something I’d rather not do, as it’d be a bit of a kludge.

So what to do?

I’m toying with the idea of ditching iBlog and migrating to something else, maybe Moveable Type. It’s more common than iBlog, and has more tweaks and stuff available for it. It can handle commenting on its own, which is great, but I think I may lose all the Haloscan comments in the transition. (Not sure about that, though.) I’ve found a program that can export all my entries into MT format, and that’d save me a ton of work, but I’m not quite ready to make the jump. I need to dig into MT more, and maybe see what I can pick up about using CSS.

I do have a great book (at least, it seems great) on CSS I picked up a while back that I haven’t done much with yet. Suppose I’ll have to get around to reading it.

^.^

Any changes are still a ways off, so I’m posting this to get ideas or suggestions from anybody who’s worked with MT. Anything I should try to implement? Anything I should change? Anything I should leave the hell alone?

Send and email or leave a comment and let me know what you think.
