Someday my knight will come.

I can’t remember a download ever taking this long before.

Okay, so Batman Begins came out last week – even in Japan – and, as expected, it hit the net in record time.

What isn’t happening in record time is the download.

I’ve been trying to get this movie since last Saturday, and it’s still not finished. All the early download released got jumped on by everybody on the planet, making it impossible for anybody to get the movie. Luckily, I got onto a members-only torrent site that had some private downloads that weren’t being swarmed.

Not that that’s helped much.

I’m actually downloading two versions of the same release right now, since one of them keeps stalling. about 48 hours ago one of them said it had only 17 hours to go.

Now it’s got 10 to go.

The other one seems to be doing better, and maybe I’ll get to watch the movie sometime in the next couple of days. I keep hearing great things about it and am really keen to see it.

So why don’t I just go to the theater?

1. A ticket costs about $16, and that’s without snacks.
2. No movie theaters convenient to my home.
3. I’ve got a big screen and 5.1 sound at home, and can get the “cinema experience” right here.
4. No need to get dressed to watch movies at home. (I’m told they frown on various states of undress in the theaters.)
5. Once it’s downloaded, I can watch it as many times as I’d like.

It’s reasons like these that have kept me out of the theaters since last September. And honestly, I can’t imagine what it’ll take to get me back into one. So I’ll just be patient and wait for Batman to swoop onto my hard drive. He should be here soon. In the meantime I’ll relax and listen to Hans Zimmer’s excellent score from the movie.

Thankfully that didn’t take forever to download. ^.^
