Batman Begins

More than worth the wait.

Wow.

Just….wow….Even though Batman Begins is based on the comics (duh), it’s hard to really call it a comic book movie. If anything, it’s a drama with comic book trappings. Sure, there’s action and gadgets and a creepy villain, but there’s more to it than that.

There’s a story.

It’s a great re(re-re-re)-telling of the origin of Batman. Very much old hat to Bat-fans, but always a good place to kick off a new series. What’s really nice is that it gives a lot of pre-Batman story. Where’d Bruce Wayne learn to fight? How’d he get the skills that serve him so well as Batman? Where does he get all those nifty gadgets?

None of the other movies ever tackled these issues, and it makes for a much more solid introduction than the usual, “oh, he’s a billionaire you see, and he fights crime dressed as a bat” sort of background that’s usually served up. I won’t go too deep into it, since I know not everybody’s gone to see it yet.But you really should.

You won’t be disappointed.
