What goes up…

….must come down. Then it’ll go back up.

For the past few days I’ve been hosting a friend of mine who was coming to Tokyo for her first visit. I figured she oughta see as much of it as we could cram into a weekend, so we were out and about pretty much all day on Saturday and Sunday. (I had to go to work today – she went to Ginza for museums and whatnot.)

On Saturday we hit Odaiba and Ikebukuro. Yes, I know they’re not close to each other, but they are on the same train line, so they kind of are. Odaiba was were we found the Kinderwhore outfits I posted about yesterday. It was also the site of something else unusual for kids.

But at least this one was a lot more wholesome.

Jane (my friend) called it “reverse bungie” and the brand name of the attraction was Jumpzone. It was a winch-powered bungie getup, with a trampoline at the bottom. The trampoline was really just a shock absorber for the descent, but I think it had some psychological value too. One could easily get the idea they were jumping that high from the trampoline alone –

if they were willing to ignore the safety harness they were wearing.

I’m probably not describing it too well, so here’s what it looked like.

Down.

and up!

I didn’t get to try it out, since they specifically said “no back problems” on their disclaimer sign. Too bad, because it looked like a hell of a lot of fun.
