In praise of games made my drug addicts.
Oh, I know, that may sound harsh, but bear with me. Some things can only be the product of drug-induced hallucinations, and I don’t think it’s wrong to describe them as such. Case in point:
A game about taking on giant lobsters with a jet fighter.
See what I mean? And it’s not just lobsters. There are gigantic jellyfish and enormous moths as well. And floating fortresses bombing the crap out of the cities you have to protect.
And you get all this craziness is a budget-priced title.
It’s one of a series (#78, to be precise) of low-cost titles for the PS2. They’re called “Simple 2000” since they’re not overly complex and retail for ¥2,000 each. (They used to have a series for PS1 called “Simple 1500.” I think you can figure that one out on you own.)
This is the first time I’ve picked up one in the series, but the premise seemed too weird to let it go by. I don’t know that I’ll get many more of them, but if one comes along that’s too good (read: weird) to pass up, you can be sure it’s going into my collection.
