T-minus 6 days and counting.

Warning: Impending vacation!

Plans have been made. Tickets have been bought. Rooms have been reserved.

Now I just need to pack.

Of course, since I’ve still got 6 days to go, there’s no need to get on it just yet. Besides I’ve got to watch the weather and see just how cold winter’s going to be. Yes, I said “winter.”

In August.

That can only mean one thing – Southern Hemisphere. (Or I suppose Alaska or Siberia or some other such thing.) This will be the first vacation I’ve taken in over a year, so I figured I oughta go somewhere I hadn’t been before.

So I’m off to Australia!

It should be a pretty cool trip. I’ve got a couple days in Sydney on my own, then it’s off to Adelaide to hang with my buddy Michael (and his folks and mates) for just over a week. Sydney will be sightseeing and some shopping. Adelaide will have more of the same, along with a side-trip to the Outback.

The real thing, not some fake steakhouse.

The only weird thing (so far) is that I had to get a visitor’s visa. (To be fair, they call it an “Electronic Travel Authority” instead of a “visa,” but that’s what it really is.) Since when do English-speaking countries require visas for people from other English-speaking countries?

Okay, America probably does that, but we’re evil.

I’m not sure how I’ll be doing for updates while I’m down there, but there may be an occasional post or two. (My hotel in Sydney has free wifi, so I know I’ll be covered there.) I’ll be taking lots of photos and I plan on writing a bit while I’m there, just to be sure I get all the good bits jotted down while they’re fresh in my mind. The planning’s taken care of, but does anybody know if there anything I should know or be on the lookout for once I’m there?

Aside from drop bears, I mean. ^.^
