I need a ferret.

Not “want” – “need.”

I used to think I wanted a ferret. I’d had friends who had them for pets, and I always thought they were neat little critters. The idea of having one of my own was cool, but it was always just an idea.

Until last weekend.

I went to a party some friends were having at Yoyogi Park and one of them had brought a ferret with her. Now, it wasn’t a “bring your pet” party or anything – but she was ferret-sitting and couldn’t very well pass that duty off to somebody else.

So he came to the party.

Clearly, he wasn’t allowed to romp around on his own much, and was seriously digging it.

Digging it so much, that we had to keep chasing him all over the area of the park we were in.

Of course, that much romping can tire a little guy out, so he went back to his travel bag to crash. He was very cute, and quite fun to play with (though a leash and harness would’ve helped with cutting back on the amount of chasing). I’d known ferrets were active critters, but it’d been a while since I’d gotten to know one that I’d forgotten how wriggly they could be.

They’re not really keen on posing for photos.

My time with the little guy (his name’s “Pom-chan”) convinced me that I definitely need one of my own. Of course, this doesn’t immediately jibe with my moving plans, so I won’t be rushing out to get my ferret right away.

But soon. Very soon…. ^.^
