One thing I really liked about Australia was it’s advertising. Some of what I saw was no different from what you’d get in the US, but some of it was damned funny. I’ve got a longer post cooking about TV ads, but this poster I saw in Sydney’s Central Station is worthy of its own post.

(Sorry about the blur. I didn’t realize it came out that poorly until later.)This has to be the best double-meaning I’ve ever seen on a public service poster. One the one hand, it means “don’t litter.” And on the other…

…well, I think you can figure it out.

But I didn’t the photo just because it was funny. I liked the ad because you’d never see something like that in the US. I don’t think anybody’s bold enough to try and get away with a phrase like that there. It’d be up for a day (if that long) and the complaints would start rolling in.

And that’s a fucking shame.
