Wow, way to fuck up a good show.

Yeah, there are gonna be some spoilers in this post.

I got into watching Alias this Summer. Decent show, if a tad unrealistic. But what the hell, it’s not like there are a lot of spy shows on TV these days.

So of course they had to go and turn it to shit.

How’d they do that? After four pretty good seasons. After a plotline that’s run it’s way through four years. After building a likable ensemble cast and seriously fleshing out the characters. They go and do the one thing nearly every show does when they run out of ideas.

The get somebody pregnant.

The main character is a female super-spy who’s been kicking ass in exotic locales for four years, and now she’s gonna be super-spy-mom?

Fucking shoot me now.

I’ve heard of “jumping the shark,” but this goes way beyond that. Better they should’ve ended the series. Aside from the (easily foreseeable) cliffhanger at the end of season four there was no reason to go further.

Than money, of course.

Yeah, there are always new bad guys to make up and defeat, and ways to put the world in peril, only the rescue it by the end of the hour – but why? If the “knocked up spy” bit is the best they could do, better they shouldn’t have done anything at all.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
