Packing! Keys! Money!

Moving update #2

You know, my current place isn’t all that big, so I didn’t think it’d take all that long to pack my stuff up for the move. And really, it hasn’t. But I do have more stuff than I realized. I got a solid start on packing things up last Saturday and quickly ran out of boxes.

And I’d started with 10.

Another trip to the grocery store got more boxes, which were also quickly filled. So then I went to the ¥99 store to get a few more.

Now I’m up to 17. Damn.

Thankfully, there’s not much left to pack. All the electronics are boxed up, aside from the essentials – PS2, Xbox, speakers and projector. The Mac mini is still chugging along grabbing those last few downloads before I move. (It may be a week or so before I get my internet hookup at the new place.) I’ll have to disassemble my futon and kitchen table Friday evening to make things easier on the movers.

They’re scheduled to show up at 10 on Saturday and everything should be in my new apartment by 1 or 2 that afternoon. Then the gas company’s slated to come by later that afternoon to turn on the gas, which is good. I’d worried about when I was going to be able to get that done and was worried that I’d have a few days of cold showers ahead of me.

Hardly the best way to make a good impression on any overnight dates. ^.^

Of course, before any of this can happen I need to go pay my rent and pick up my key – which I’ll be doing today. Parting with any significant amount of cash is always a bit of a bummer, but it’s totally worth it in this case. I’ll have a nicer place to show for it, more room and be much closer to friends, trains and fun stuff to do in Tokyo.

Damn, I’m psyched! ^.^
