It’s a good thing I’ve got honest neighbors.
Every morning before I leave for work I have a checklist that I go over in my head. Since it takes just over an hour to get to work, it’s not like I can zip home during a break and get something I’ve forgotten. It’s a short list, but important.
Do I have everything I need? (laptop, phone, wallet, keys, etc.)Is there anything special I was supposed to do or bring?Was I supposed to print anything for work? (My printer is better than the school’s, and I buy good paper.)
Are all the lights (and stereo and anything else) turned off?
Are the windows shut?
Yeah, off all the things to forget, I went off to work today and left a window open. At my old place that wouldn’t have been a big deal.
But since I’m living on the first floor now….
Thankfully, my neighbors are an honest bunch. (Well, they seem to be anyway.) Even so, I won’t be trying to test (or tempt) them.
Checking the windows is now the first thing on my list.
