“Infinite Health” does not mean “immortality.”
Everybody who plays videogames feels the temptation to cheat at one time or another. There’s a level you get stuck on, a boss you can’t beat or some other obstacle you just can’t overcome.
For me, it’s crazy people. A whole village full of them.
Yeah, I’m cheating at Resident Evil 4. That stupid village full of crazy people. I tried. Really, I did. I just couldn’t hack it.
I suck.
I’d actually set the game aside months ago, figuring I’d get back around to it. I never did until today.
But first, a digression.
I’d been able to cheat for a while (since I have an Action Replay for the Gamecube), but it was kind of a hassle. Use AR disc, enter codes, load game, blahblahblah. Not so anymore.I’m holding some stuff for a friend while he’s out of the country for a bit, and one of the things of his I’m watching is his PC, which he was nice enough to allow me to use while it’s in my care. I don’t need Windows for much, but there are some things you just can’t do on a Mac. (Yeah, I said it.)
Like reprogram a modchip.
The tools just aren’t there on the Mac, and I hadn’t felt like taking the Cube to work (or a friend’s place) and hooking it up to get the stuff done. But hey, with a PC in my own home – why wait!I fired things up, and got the new BIOS on the chip and it worked like a charm. It’ll boot any Gamecube game from any region (and yes, even bootlegs burned onto full-sized DVDs) and since I had an original Action Replay disc, I could use it to install the cheat function as well. A fully loaded code file was just a download away, so I loaded that up as well.
And now I’m a stinkin’ cheater.
I went with infinite health and infinite ammo – I wasn’t greedy! I could’ve loaded up every weapon in the game, but I do like to discover some things on my own.
I just hate dying along the way.
You see, I play games for the stories and the adventure – not the frustration. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a challenge.
But I have my limits.
There comes a point where things top being fun and get very, very annoying.
Then it’s time to cheat.
There are things to keep in mind, though. Like the “infinite heath” thing. It means you will never take damage from weapons or melee attacks.
It does not mean you can’t get your head cut off with a fucking chainsaw.
Just so you know.
