Too. Many. Choices.

One silly decision.

As I mentioned in my post about cheating at Resident Evil 4, I’ve finally gotten the modchip in my Gamecube running the way it’s supposed to.

Which means bootleg games.

The only problem is that the Cube can be very fussy about what DVD-R media it will run. I tried a few different brands of 8cm mini DVD-Rs, but none of them were able to boot. I finally gave up and tried burning games on full-sized (12cm) media and they ran just fine. Cool.

Except they won’t fit in the Cube, as it’s designed for small discs.

See:

This leads to some seriously ghetto-tastic looking gaming:

Damn, that’s fugly.

(The modchip is the bit of blue on the right side. The thing hanging off at an odd angle is the USB connector for the modchip. Normally it’s stuck to the side of the case when the top’s on, but when running full-sized media it’s just kinda out there flappin’.)But all is not lost! My Cube can sport its mod, and look sharp at the same time, all while being able to play full-sized media. How can it do that?

With a new case!

The dudes over at Xecuter (makers of the modchip in my Xbox) produce a full-on rainbow of cases for Cube modders. But I’m not sure which one to go with. My stock color is silver, which I kind of like, but I can’t see getting a replacement case and sticking with the same color I’ve already got. A friend of mine suggested gold, but I’m not sure my living room is suited to that much bling. I’m leaning more towards the Crystal or Transparent Black ones. I used to have a modded Playstation in a crystal case, and it looked pretty cool. I did have issues with the LED blasting out at full brightness, so that may not be the way to go this time around, especially since the Qoobchip has a bright LED of its own. The Transparent Black may give me the groovy, see-though effect without the LED-induced blindness.

But what do you think?

If this were your decision to make, what would you pick? Or what do you think I should pick? The current lineup of colors in my living room is this:Xbox 360 – WhiteGamecube – SilverXbox – blackPlaystation 2 – blackVCR – silverSurround sound receiver – silverDVD player – white and silverComponent switchbox – blackEntertainment center – white with siver accents.Everything is kind of neutral, so I know I don’t want anything gaudy (like Transparent Purple).

What to do, what to do…?
