It must be a law.

If you’re an expat, you have to be bi.

No, really. Hear me out on this one.

I don’t know if it’s something about the personalities of those willing to live outside their own countries, or just some “free spirit” kind of thing, but this is far too common for me to just be meeting the exceptions instead of the rule. I don’t care where you’re from, or what country you’re living in (though I’m finding this more common in Japan than in Korea) – If the country you live in, isn’t where you’re from, odds are you swing both ways.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a condemnation or anything. But bisexual expats need to realize that being bi is nothing unusual. Far from it. It’s gotten to the point where the next time somebody brings up their sexuality I’ll probably just yawn and give them a “that’s nice.”

Because it’s just not special.

I do notice a big difference with women though. Bi expat chicks are truly bi. Not like the “bi” chicks in the US who only sleep with women.

They’re just lesbians who are afraid to admit it.

Yes, I know this is a bit of a rambling post, but so what? This isn’t a dissertation on “Expatriate Sexual Identity in the Twenty-first Century” or anything. (Though the research on such a thing could be fun. ^.^) It’s just an observation, that I felt needed pointing out.

I just want to know why nobody else seems to have noticed this.
